BERA residents will be thinking about how you can help neighbours who are more vulnerable and may need assistance with shopping or other issues. Many are helping friends and neighbours, and/or are setting up local support groups to support neighbours they may not already know.
But this won't provide for all such people in the Estate. The good news is that BathNES and a group called 3SG have established a means of doing this across Bath, offering a helpline available to needy residents. It is linked to a network of volunteer providers across the city. Many of these are residents associations, like ours. For the Bathwick Estate, we have volunteer "connectors " for each street. (You can see who they are here) We also have another set of volunteers willing to undertake task such as collecting shopping for those vulnerable individuals.
So, if you are a vulnerable person, and you ring the helpline asking for such a service that a volunteer can undertake, 3SG will contact the street connector for where you live, and they in turn who will arrange for a volunteer to do it.
You can see more detail about the helpline itself, and other related news, here.
